Exciting times are upon us peeps. We are kicking off two things at once. First is our habit series. Second is a series of books you should read. Each one of these mini reviews will include a short one paragraph summary. With people staying home more and having already crushed the entire Netflix library that maybe it would you would be up to read and learn. There are a ton of interesting books so expect a lot of posts.
Why this book?
Habits are the foundation to our behavior. More than 40% of every decision we make is a habit. That means if we are going to change our health we need to change habits. This book is a great launch pad for that change.
One Paragraph Summary
I am not going to spoil the ending of The Power of Habit although in some of the posts upcoming I will share some of what Duhigg wrote in the book, but in short the book goes through the science of habit formation. You will be shocked at how much we are ruled by our habits without realizing it. Then you will learn about a system of cues and rewards aka the habit loop. Why or how habits develop essentially. Finally, you will learn how to replace bad habits with good or at least better ones because we cannot simply get rid of habits.
