How to get started with exercise part 1

The hardest part of anything is starting. It’s new, it feels scary and you have no idea what your doing - this includes fitness as well! But with a little practice anyone can learn how to work out or keep themselves fit for life (well at least the long-term).

A lot people feel intimidated by working out because they don't know where/how start but really all we need are 3 simple guidelines; eat healthy food, get enough sleep find time each day throughout our busy schedules(even if its just 10 minutes)to move around on two feet.

What we do when we move around on two feet is the tricky part. Where should you start? That depends on what you want out of fitness, where you are and how much time you have. The key, as with most things is to make the changes sustainable. The more support you have, getting a coach vs not, the more significant the changes can be. Here are some easy ways to get started.

Walking

Are you completely new to exercise? This may be the best place to start. It isn’t an end but walking is and should always be part of your health and fitness plan. Going from sedentary to high intensity exercise or even easier bodyweight movements might be too much. Start walking. Start small and increase a little bit each day and each week. Walk at a comfortable pace and enjoy the time.

Bodyweight movements

If you are passed walking but not ready for the gym start with basic body weight movements. You can design a whole program around simple but super effective movements like the air squat, the push up and things like lunges. There are a million different ways to do all of those. Use them and learn them and you can make massive progress on your fitness with out leaving home.

As a cheap add on consider getting a resistance band or two to really open up a ton of options for $10-15. Check these out on amazon. It is worth the investment. I have a simple easy to follow template I can send if you need a little guidance.

Coach

The best and most obvious way is to get a coach. Find someone who has experience with people on your level. You and your coach should work together to devise a plan that works for you. The upside to getting a coach is that this is the absolute fastest way to your goals. It isn’t cheap but you get maximum support and maximum results

Group fitness classes

Less expensive than a coach but still effective. Find a class you like just make sure they have a system for working with beginners. Too many fitness classes throw everyone in the same figurative pool and a lot of people end up sinking.
